The three-day day National Vaccination Days (NVD) of the national government officially started on November 29, 2021. In Davao de Oro, the campaign kicked off at the Provincial Gymnasium, the municipality of Pantukan.
The NVD targets to inoculate a total of 9 million Filipinos during its three-day implementation nationwide. Davao de Oro has a 3-day total target of 139,540 Dabawenyos with a daily target of 46,514 individuals.
Gracing the ceremonial kick-off were various personnel from the Department of Health, Department of Education, Office of the Civil Defense XI, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Philippine Red Cross, and employees of the provincial and local government unit.
Senior Board Member Arturo Uy encouraged the public to get vaccinated as this will not only help to protect family and friends but also contribute to herd immunity.
Further, Jose Mahusay, a 67-year-old senior citizen, was the first person inoculated during the ceremonial vaccination of the NVD in Pantukan. “Nagpabakuna ko karun para makalikay ug makasurvive ko sa Covid-19. Naa usab koy mga kaubanan nga senior citizen nga magpabakuna karun,” said Jose Mahusay.
Not only did adult individuals participate in the vaccination drive, but also the pediatric population with ages twelve (12) to seventeen (17) years old. Various religious denominations of Pantukan also participated in the 3-day vaccination drive.
Rosito Coste, a 49-year-old pastor from the Victory Church got his first jab with his 13-year-old son. “Wala koy problema sa vaccine, ug naga supporta ko sa vaccination. Akong tibook pamilya bakunado na. Lahi-lahi usab ug prinsipyo ang mga tao, pero ako, isip usa ka pastor ginadasig gyud nako ang pagpabakuna, ug sumala sa mga datos sa bakuna nga ginapagawas karun, okay kini ug wala may problems, kanang mga uban nanggawas fake news ra kana,” said Pastor Coste.
In partnership with the national government agencies and volunteers, the provincial government of Davao de Oro with its 11 municipalities successes the first day of the implementation of the NVD and gears up for two (2) remaining days. Local government units targeted areas or barangays within the province that have low coverage of the vaccination campaign to elevate the numbers of vaccinated Dabawenyos.
Through the NVD, targeted herd immunity can be reached in no time. Given enough support and participation from the Filipinos nationwide, a safe and merrier holiday waits for everyone. (PR)
