The COVID-19 pandemic and the travel and venue restrictions did not hamper the delivery of agrarian justice and resolution of agrarian cases as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Sultan Kudarat, Office of the Provincial Adjudicator led by OIC-Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudicator Hariz Jabbar Disocor continue to conduct virtual hearings of regular cases under the new normal.
DAR-SOCSKSARGEN Regional Director Marion Abella said the virtual court hearing would be the new normal way and set up in adjudicating agrarian-related cases.
“By making innovations in the internet and advanced technology, justice will still be served promptly to the clients,” Abella said.
He added that the DAR should take advantage of the power of technology because the agency needs to unburden the agrarian reform beneficiaries of their legal issues and concerns so that they could work on their farm productively without any apprehensions on their lands.
The Office of the Provincial Adjudicator or PARAD office serves as the judicial body in every DAR province which hears agrarian and agrarian-related cases. The office is under the RARAD in every region and the DAR Adjudication Board (DARAB) at the central office.
During the conduct of this event, the virtual hearing in the province was able to accomplish 46 non-adversarial cases consisting of 15 corrections of entry, 24 confirmation of leasehold contract, and 7 confirmation of compromise agreement. (PR)
