3D Printing for Medical Applications to be showcased during 2021 Davao RSTW

One of the biggest S&T events in Mindanao is just around the corner as the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST XI) launches the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) 2021 virtual celebration on November 3-5, 2021.

Different webinars and activities are lined up for this three-day event. One of them will highlight additive manufacturing or industrial 3D printing and its innovative applications in the medical field.

As a way of appreciating the contributions of our medical front-liners in this time of the pandemic, the DOST XI will be showcasing a healthcare initiative webinar entitled “Additive Manufacturing on Medical Applications” which will be discussed by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Chief Resident, Dr. Rentor Cafino of Zamboanga City Medical Center on November 4, 2021, 2:00-4:00 PM via Zoom and Facebook Live.

This webinar targets professionals from the health care industry especially surgeons, medical doctors, orthopedic doctors, dentists, and medical students to join. It aims to introduce additive manufacturing and its application in the healthcare industry, train doctors on using software and 3D printer with first-hand experience, and apply it in their respective fields.

With the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon,” the RSTW 2021 in Davao Region is in line with the celebration of National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) on November 22-28, 2021. The NSTW is an annual event highlighting the significant contributions of S&T to national development and advocating S&T in the country. (PR)
