The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 11 (DSWD-11) has already disbursed PHP288.9 million to 17,124 out of 36,270 beneficiaries in five municipalities of Davao del Sur under its Comprehensive Aid to Repair Earthquake Damage(CARED) program as of November 22.
The program is composed of two components namely, the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) and the Cash-for-Work.
The ESA component is intended to finance the purchase of materials intended to repair or rebuild their houses, while the Cash-for-Work is earmarked for the temporary employment of the homeowners for the actual repair of the damaged houses.
Of the total beneficiaries paid, 4,297 were categorized as having totally damaged houses that received PHP30,000 and PHP2,970 each, while 12,827 beneficiaries, were categorized as having partially damaged houses, got PHP10,000 and PHP1,485 each.
CARED is one of the interventions by DSWD to help the survivors of the series of earthquakes last 2019 to recover from such incidents, aside from the provision of relief items and other social protection programs while they are inside the evacuation camps.
DSWD-11 intends to implement the program and finish the same before the end of the calendar year 2021. Aside from Davao Region, CARED will also be implemented in Region 12. (PR)
